Sean Grayson was elected by acclamation to serve as the sixth President of AFSCME Ohio Council 8 in 2019.

Sean is a cum laude graduate of The Ohio State University and the University of Toledo College of Law. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Trade Union Program.He began his legal career as an Associate Counsel with the firm of Gallon, Kalniz and Iorio, in Toledo representing private and public sector unions and their members.

Grayson joined AFSCME Ohio Council 8 in 1988 as an Assistant General Counsel and later held the positions of Associate General Counsel and Columbus Regional Director. In 1996, he was appointed General Counsel of AFSCME Ohio Council 8, a position he held for 23 years. He also served as President and Past President of the Ohio Public Employees Lawyer’s Association and is a frequent speaker on labor and employment law issues. He is the Chairman of the Ohio AFSCME Care Plan and Legal Services Plan and serves as an AFSCME International Vice President and as a Vice President of the Ohio AFL-CIO.

Grayson is the father of one son, Seth, who is a sophomore at Texas Tech University.
