Saturday at Convention
Can you believe it's the last day of the 36th OCSEA Biennial Convention? It has flown by, but we still have a little bit of work to do! We will be continuing with the business of the union plus celebrating some deserving members and activists this morning.
While we know that it is the start of the Labor Day weekend, and we heard rumors that there is a big football game today, we encourage you to stick it out and attend to the business of the union and help us celebrate our union sisters and brothers for their activism and community service.
Registration will remain open today for any last minute assistance from 8:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. in the Lakeside Foyer on the 5th floor. General Session starts promptly at 9:30 a.m. in the Superior Ballroom.
After we receive the final Credentials Report, we will present our first award of the day, the Jean Fightmaster Leadership Award. Jean Fightmaster, an activist who passed away in 2023, was revered by her friends and colleagues as a “force of nature” and a dedicated union activist who truly embodied her last name. The leadership award winner will be given to an activist who best exemplifies Jean’s leadership, advocacy and dedication to our union.
The biennial High Performance Initiative (HPI) Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of our union bodies. The awards will be presented to subordinate bodies that build union power through high performance initiatives.
To wrap up the awards ceremony, we will honor three union sisters who have gone above and beyond to give back to their communities and union families with the annual Bob White Labor Gives Back Awards.
Finally, we will end the morning with the last report on the PEOPLE Challenge. Will District 2 keep its lead or will another chapter pull ahead? Will we make it to 100%, and which district will earn the $1,000 rebate! We're excited to find out! See the Latest 100% in for PEOPLE results HERE.
