Friday at Convention
Welcome to the second day of the 36th OCSEA Biennial Convention! We will be continuing with the business of the union, celebrating leadership, hearing from an array of union leaders who make Ohio the best it can be, and joining in solidarity with our union sisters and brothers.
We encourage you to attend this morning's New Employee Orientation Workshop to learn more about best practices for growing our union memberships. It will be held from 8 a.m.-9:15 a.m. in Hope C. Also, if you haven't already, stop by the Future of Work Expo, to participate in some really fun technological activities, talk with the Future of Work Committee about protecting our jobs of the future, and entering the raffle for great prizes, including a drone. It will continue through Friday evening.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. today in the Lakeside Foyer on the 5th floor. General Session starts promptly at 9:30 a.m. in the Superior Ballroom, with doors opening at 9:00 a.m.
The morning's special guest will be Dr. Amy Acton, the former director of the Ohio Dept. of Health and candidate for Ohio governor. Dr. Acton will share her love for public employees and her vision for Ohio. There will also be an important celebration of OCSEA leadership with AFSCME union heads across Ohio.
In the afternoon, we will welcome crowd favorite, AFSCME International Pres. Lee Saunders, who will fire up attendees about the AFSCME GO organizing campaign, which is inspiring public service members across the country.
Also during the afternoon session, activists who attended the OCSEA Leadership Training will share their experiences on building their union and leadership skills and how they are growing the next generation of union leaders on the chapter level.
Friday's Delegate Reception will be held in the Hope Ballroom from 6:30-9 p.m. A blue wristband is required for delegate/alternate entry. A red wristband is required for guest entry.
